Jennie Bentley delivers another great story that is difficult to put down. Avery is a wonderful, well rounded, fun, character that will make you laugh out loud, and, at times, have you worried about her latest exploits. Avery' s partner, Derek compliments her well. They are both businesses and romantic partners, and its fun watching both relationships develop. Melissa, Derek's ex-wife, is incredibly difficult and annoying, and so well written, you wish Avery would strangle her. Avery' s best friend, Kate and her fiance Wayne, who is also the Chief of Police are also great characters that keep your interest. The entire series is definitely fun,and the plot never ends the way you think it will. I can't praise this series enough. I truly hope the series continues, since I've read each one of the mysteries, and I'm hoping they continue. I recommend this series to every one that enjoys a great read, the kind of books you hate to put down, and can't wait to get back to. Do yourself a favor and read the entire series, I promise you won't be disappointed.Tags : Amazon.com: Plaster and Poison (A Do-It-Yourself Mystery) (9780425233450): Jennie Bentley: Books,Jennie Bentley,Plaster and Poison (A Do-It-Yourself Mystery),Berkley,0425233456,Mystery & Detective - Women Sleuths,Baker, Avery (Fictitious character);Fiction.,Dwellings - Maintenance and repair,Dwellings - Remodeling,Dwellings;Remodeling;Fiction.,Mystery fiction,Mystery fiction.,Baker, Avery (Fictitious character),Crime & mystery,Dwellings,FICTION Crime,FICTION Mystery & Detective Cozy General,FICTION Mystery & Detective Women Sleuths,Fiction,Fiction - Mystery Detective,Fiction-Mystery & Detective,General Adult,MASS MARKET,MYSTERY AND SUSPENSE FICTION,Monograph Series, any,MysterySuspense,Remodeling,United States, mystery books; cozy mystery; cozy; crafts; cozy mysteries; women sleuths; detective novels; detective; murder; animals; murder mystery books; murder mystery; crime; crime books; mystery series; cats; book series; recipes; cooking; suspense; mystery; mystery thriller suspense; mystery and thrillers; mystery and suspense; mystery novels; fiction; fiction books; mysteries; mysteries and thrillers; cozy mysteries women sleuths series; women sleuths mysteries; female sleuths mysteries; culinary; food; knitting; chick lit; humorous, mystery;cozy;crime;women sleuths;mystery books;cozy mysteries;murder mystery books;crime books;crime fiction;detective novels;mystery and thrillers;police;cozy mystery books;mystery and suspense;mystery novels;fiction;novels;mysteries;fiction books;cozy mysteries women sleuths series;mysteries and thrillers;books fiction;books mystery;mystery thriller suspense;cozy mystery;crime novels;women sleuths mysteries;collusion;romance;murder;culinary;mystery series;murder mystery;book series;cooking,FICTION Crime,FICTION Mystery & Detective Cozy General,FICTION Mystery & Detective Women Sleuths,Fiction - Mystery Detective,Baker, Avery (Fictitious character),Dwellings,Remodeling,Mystery And Suspense Fiction,Fiction,MysterySuspense,Crime & mystery
Plaster and Poison A DoItYourself Mystery Jennie Bentley Books Reviews
I will have to say that this was not as good as the others for me. It was still pretty good and I like Avery, Derek and the rest of the crew, but this one just didn't have as much umph. Savannah Martin is still my favorite of Jenna/Jennie's series.
I enjoy this mystery series. Although "Tink" can get a bit carried away with her conjecture, I like the characters. (They would be welcome to come to my house for dinner.) I'm always kept guessing, and there is a nice little touch of romance.
I read cozy mysteries frequently. This one was hard for me to get involved, I'm only half way through it. It's okay.
I'm enjoying it.
Others have told enough about the story line in this book. I just want to mention that you really do need to read the books in this series in order. Sometimes the order doesn't matter; in these Avery and Derek novels, the books build on the previous ones, and order is very important.
This is a Cozy in which the starring female does not do dumb things time after time. The characters are all well developed--no one dimensional characters. It is an interesting and exciting book, and I recommend it highly.
Number 3 in the series involves a new murder as well as a very old murder and an injustice. Kate, the owner of the B and B ,is getting married to the sheriff. She asks Avery and Derek to redo her carriage house for them to live in. As they redo it they discover some initials and set out to find whose they are. They also discover the body of Kate's ex. He has been poisoned. It becomes a tangled web involving missing people, blackmail, and dishonest business practices. Her mother also shows up for a visit. Read and see which old characters get tangled up, and what the old injustice was. It was hard to put down. The characters keep growing.
I always enjoy the details and clues the reader gets to piece together as the story unfolds! This draws you into the story and gives the reader a true sense of being able to help identify the clues and put the puzzle together to determine who exactly did what! Avery and Derek begin this project discovering a dead corpse at their job site-a shady man who is relatively new in town with a questionable past. I will not give anymore information on this story so that all the readers can put on their detective hats and pull out the magnifying glasses to enjoy this read and help Avery solve her current adventure!
